If you’re a fashionista, then the bag of your dreams might be sitting in a box at your local store. I know it’s tough to choose which designer handbag is best for you. here are my top designer handbag brands with their most popular bags listed below.

Designer handbags are a must-have accessory for any modern woman. They have become an essential staple for casual and formal wear and are now as commonplace for men as business suits and cufflinks. The top luxury handbag brands include Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermes and many more.

If you’d asked every woman what she looks for in a handbag, she would not have said “a bag with a big price tag”. But if you want to know what women really want, then the answer is the most high-quality and expensive handbags in the world.

Whether you’re looking for a comfortable cross-body bag, or dream of owning an evening clutch to wear in a cocktail setting, designer handbags are an investment. Also called a purse or a hand bag, it’s defined as an article of leather or fabric that is designed to be carried by hand or placed in another receptacle (container) commonly used mobile phones and pagers

A bag is more than just an accessory to carry your belongings around. A bag can be the stuff of fantasy for many people. Its presence adds an element of passion and creativity to a woman’s persona. Expecially in these last seven weeks in which I started to make some more videos for the youtube channel related to this blog, which before was practically non-existent.

Now you know: I’m passionate about handbags and I tend a little bit to collect them, although I’ve reduced their number a lot over the years and I sold all the ones I didn’t use.

Since then, I feel much better, because every time I add a new bag to my handbag collection I think about it before I buy it, I feel great and so I’m also much more used and much more satisfied.

I currently own about a dozen bags that I use regularly.

I’d like to talk to you today about what, in my opinion, are bags that every woman should have in her wardrobe.

Naturally, much also depends on how we use it, on our personal taste, from our style and also especially from our lifestyle.

I’m a 53-year-old working woman with family who has a lot of other things to do every day. In addition, in non-quarantine times I go out at least a couple of nights a week. Therefore, the must-have bags that every woman should have to suit her lifestyle are the ones I describe in this post.

As you may have noticed from the various outfit posts, I mainly own designer bags. But that doesn’t mean that you have to have designer bags to be well dressed. On the contrary! There are many beautiful bags in lower price ranges that are beautiful and practical and allow you to dress well and create classy outfits.

There are extremely innovative mid-range brands on everything: on materials, on extremely creative lines. They create handbags are real jewels of great taste.

So, you don’t have to spend big money in designer handbags to have a collection of beautiful bags.

Today I tell you about five models of women’s handbags that I consider extremely useful, if not indispensable, in everyday life. However, these are indications about the model and not about the brand.

1 THE INDISTRUCTABLE BAG

The bag that I call “indistructable” is a fairly large and quite capacious bag, capable of containing a lot of items. It can be carried anywhere, because it is very resistant. Ideally, it is made of leather that, as you get older, becomes more and more beautiful.

My favorite bag in this category is the Givenchy Nightingale, which you see in these photos.

I find you beautiful and, in fact, I often find myself they ask what bag it is and where you can buy it.

It can be carried by hand or on the shoulder. And if it also had a long shoulder strap, it would be the perfect bag.

I bought this “pre-loved” bag (officially used, but actually arrived with original tags) on Vestiaire Collective, a great online store of vintage and used luxury women’s handbags where I bought several “treasures”.

2 THE SMALL-MEDIUM CROSS-BODY BAG

Another bag that I think every woman would do good to have in your wardrobe and that for me has become really indispensable is the small to medium cross-body bag, which I tend to use a lot of also when I go on vacation or travel.

I have two of them and I use them both a lot: a Gucci Disco sand-colored, which goes with everything, and the latest one, the red Gucci Marmont Small bag.

There is space a large Zippy wallet, one or two bundles of keys, sunglasses, my mobile phone and some other small items, such as handkerchiefs, lip gloss or other.

I love a nice, long shoulder strap, that gets to the hips, while I hate those short ones that end at waist height or just underneath, which I find very unstylish.

The shoulder strap, by the way, allows you to have your hands always free and this multiplies the ideal uses of this handbag model.

3 THE CLASSIC, SLIGHTLY FORMAL BAG

As an example of this category, I chose my black Chanel Jumbo Caviar , a truly timeless bag that is very durable.

I find that having a classic handbag in your closet is very useful both to cover a whole series of formal, professional and non-professional occasions, but also to “elevate” a very casual look, creating a pleasant contrast.

Naturally, there are beautiful classic bags of many brands and they are not necessarily big names: to make a bag look classic, in fact, is its linear shape, the beautiful leather, its sleek and elegant details.

There’s only a little warning to consider: wear these bags only when you actually want to look very formal, because the occasion demands it, or wear them with deliberately casual, young, informal outfits. Otherwise, they risk making you look a little older.

4 THE “ICONIC” BAG

  1. Chanel Flap Bag

The Classic Flap bag is without a doubt the most loved designer bag in the world. The quilted leather, exceptional quality and timeless allure, are all elements that have made the Classic Flap the object of all our desires. If you ask any fashion-loving girl what her biggest dream is in terms of future purchases, there’s a big chance she’ll reply with the following words: a Chanel bag. You should take a look at our Chanel bag collection.

  1. Louis Vuitton Speedy

The Speedy was designed in 1930 as a smaller interpretation of the hugely popular Keepall bag. The bag marks a turning point in the history of Louis Vuitton, as the Speedy was in fact the very first handag from the fashion house. While the Keepall was intended for the globetrotting elite, the Speedy was designed for everyday use. We have multiple Speedy’s for sale on our platform.

  1. Celine Classic Box Bag

Only real fashion lovers will know Phoebe Philo was not the creator of the Box bag. This popular piece was actually a re-design of an old Céline bag. The Box bag has been worn on the shoulders of women since the 1970’s and we especially love the sleek design of the modern version. Of course, we have a Box bag available on our platform. Take a peek at our Celine collection.

  1. Balenciaga Motorcycle City

Nicolas Ghesquière designed his bag for the house in 2000, a first version of the Balenciaga Motorcycle City, but it was dismissed by the company as it lacked structure and was too soft. The bag was the opposite of all the popular bags of that time. Little did they know that those were the qualities that would make the bag so popular. What do you think about the City bag?

  1. Chanel Boy Bag

It was Karl Lagerfeld who paid a tribute to the men in Coco Chanel’s life, with the birth of the Chanel Boy bag. In 2011 he spoke about Coco’s love for menswear: “Chanel used men’s underwear to make dresses; she had this boyish attitude, in fact it is the very spirit of Chanel. She got it from Boy Capel, the great love of her life, which, incidentally, explains why the new bag is called the Boy.”

6. Hermès Birkin

The Birkin is a large bag with a square shape and a sporty yet elegant appearance. Back in 1984, the design of the Birkin was a modern statement from the (until then very traditional) fashion house. Before the Birkin, the conservative and ladylike Kelly bag was one of the figureheads of the company. Always wanted a Birkin? We got you! Check our collection of Hermès Birkin bags at Designer-Vintage.com.

  1. Celine Trape

The success of Celine started with the never-ending hype of the Céline Luggage bag. But the Luggage bag has been thrown of its pedestal by an even more loved bag: the Trapeze. The bag has extra wide rectangular side-wings, which gives it an iconic shape.

  1. Lady Dior

The Lady Dior is a true classic and was given its iconic status by Princess Diana. The French fashion house of Dior wanted to create a bag that was instantly recognizable and had a strong identity. The Lady Dior design was inspired by couture and was first manufactured in 1994. Take a look at the beautiful Dior bags available on our platform.

  1. Louis Vuitton Neverfull

Though it was only introduced in 2007, the Louis Vuitton Neverfull has become one of the brand’s all time best-selling, most-coveted bags. 1. Bottega Veneta

Long before there was the Hermès Birkin (see below), there was the Hermès Kelly. Designed in 1935 by Robert Dumas, a member of the family that still owns Hermès, the bag was based on the Sac à Courroies, which Hermès sold to carry saddles.  Transforming it into a proper purse, Dumas used a trapezoid shape, added a rigid handle, kept the flap with pull straps, and closed it with a turn-lock that came with a tiny padlock and key.

In 1954, movie star Grace Kelly picked up one while filming To Catch a Thief. In 1956, when she’d become Princess Grace of Monaco, she began using it to hide her baby bump from the paparazzi, leading women to call Hermès requesting the much-photographed “Kelly bag.” Today, the Kelly remains Hermès’ most complex model and is produced only in France, where each is made by a single artisan who spends between 20 and 25 hours hand-sewing, clamping, glueing, gumming, and buff its 36 pieces of leather.
