Perler beads design
There is a huge array of different Perler bead crafts around due to the versatility of these little plastic beads, so I thought I would write a round up post of some of my favourites.
Perler beads are also know as Hama beads, fusion beads or even melty beads and are usually used along with a little peg board. After your creation is finished, you simple place some greaseproof paper over the top and use a hot iron which melts the beads slightly causing them to fuse together.
They are great for helping with fine motor skills in children, and improving concentration by making them focus on the activity. It is also simple for children to come up with their own designs, or follow specific patterns. There are lots of perler bead patterns on line from R2-D2 to unicorns, and I have listed some towards the end of the post.
As well as using them the traditional way, they can be used to make three dimensional objects like braclets, bowls and candle holders.
