The first commercially sold Television Set (produced in Ridgewood, New Jersey) was offered by Radio Corporation of America (RCA) in June of 1927. This was known as the Telimco radio-phonograph/television combination model APL-12H. It was then in 1928 that RCA produced the first commercially successful television model: the C-38A Photophone. It only had a 5 inch screen, a mechanical tumbler for rotating images, and operated only when connected to an external video transmitter or receiver (like a camera). It wasn’t until April 1929 that RCA began selling their own television sets; they sold their first television with a 14 inch CRT picture tube(s). In March of 1930 RCA had begun shipping 21 inch CRT televisions with a mechanical scanning “Nipkow Disk” system and continue until 1950 when all rear projection television sets became commonplace.
This television is capable of receiving both AM and FM. This is an earlier model, but still has a beautiful screen, great sound and is in good condition.
