Hey there what’s going on everyone! It’s Nigel here with Honest Soles and I’m so excited to finally bring you a blog series dedicated to sneaker recommendations! To kick start this blog series, I’ll be sharing with you the top 5 sneakers under $100 in 2019.
Just some background information..
Previously, I’ve been focusing more on individual reviews of specific sneakers to help people decide if that pair of sneakers is suitable for them.
And I realized one thing.
That is helpful, BUT only to those who have already heard of a particular sneaker and just want to know more about it. For those of you who are looking for general recommendations, a blog post introducing various sneakers would be more helpful than an in-depth review of a specific sneaker.
And that led me to start a blog series on sneaker recommendations, starting off with the Top 5 Sneakers Under $100 in 2019, which you’re reading now.

These sneakers first released in the 80s and were recently brought back to life by Adidas in fresh colourways.
With a slim look and retro vibes, the Adidas Continental 80 allows you to pull off just about any outfit. Whether it is with jeans, joggers, bermudas or even simple shorts, they are a great everyday sneaker to own.
The trefoil logo on the heel tab and ‘adidas’ brand name on the upper also adds contrast to this sneaker, making it stand out even more.

Lined with soft leather upper and decent padding around the sneaker collar, the Adidas Continental 80 provides a comfortable and flexible fit. Tiny holes are also deliberately punched into the sneaker at the toe box and sides to ensure breathability for the wearer.

Sizing wise, these sneakers fit slightly wider than usual so I would recommend taking your true size or half size down if you have narrower feet. They are hence wide foot friendly as well so it’s a good sneaker for those of you with wide feet.

Style wise, the Adidas Yung 1 offers a way bulkier look than the Continental 80, giving it a ‘dad shoe’ look. Considering that the ‘dad shoes’ are what’s trending now, this sneaker allows you to get in the trend just when it is at its peak.
I find these sneakers fairly easy to match too. The core black pair can match with almost any outfit while I like to match my ‘more fancy’ console pack pair with simple basic jeans.
Comfort
In terms of comfort, the heavy padding around the sneaker collar does its job well to support my ankles and heels. Designed as a running shoe, the Adidas Yung 1 provides great support on the soles and breathability as well. Having took these for a run, I can safely say that running performance is satisfactory.
Sizing
The Adidas Yung 1 runs larger than usual so I would recommend going half to one size down. I personally went a full size down on these to get a comfortable snug fit.
Cost
If you’ve read my other reviews you would know that I absolutely love such dual purpose sneakers. Why? They meet both my running and lifestyle needs, at the cost of 1 pair of sneakers!
The Adidas Yung 1 may have a retail price of $150 but can be easily found below $100 from most fashion retailers. For that price, this sneaker is well worth your money.

The Nike Air Force 1 needs no introduction and is no surprise it’s on the list of top 5 sneakers under $100 in 2019.

If you’ve not heard of these sneakers before then you’re missing out a lot!!
Style
These are a classic lifestyle sneaker that can literally rock any outfit with its clean look. One thing I really love is the swoosh logo which covers a large part of the upper, allowing the brand name to really ‘pop’ out.
When I first saw the Nike Air Force 1 a few years back, I thought they look kind of bulky and out of place. However, wearing them on feet, they offer a classy look which really catches the eye. And I immediately started wearing them to school whenever I can.
These are in fact one of my top picks for white sneakers!
These sneakers are also really easy to clean since the upper is made of soft leather. A simple wipe with a cloth once a week would keep them in good condition and look. For tougher stains on the midsole, you may consider sneaker cleaning solution such as Jason Markk or Reshoevn8r. I’ve personally tried these before and I’m pretty satisfied with their effect.

Comfort wise, these sneakers feel no less amazing. With a soft midsole and cushioning from the sneaker tongue and collar, the Nike Air Force 1s are a great choice of everyday sneakers.

For size, the Nike Air Force 1 runs larger than usual so I would recommend going half to full size down. I personally went half size down but can honestly go a full size down too for a tighter fit. So depending on your preference of fit, you should go half to full size down.
